International cooperation

The main directions of international activity in NTU “KhPI” are: the inclusion of international component in all spheres of university – educational, scientific, etc. participation in international educational and scientific projects and programs; promoting academic exchange of students, teachers and researchers; providing graduates of professional knowledge, intercultural communication skills;

Nowadays NTU “KhPI” has relations with 148 foreign partners from 38 countries. There are direct agreements with 127 foreign universities and organizations in 33 countries (Austria, Bulgaria, Great Britain, China, Greece, Estonia, India, Italy, China, Korea, the Netherlands, Germany, Poland, Russia, Romania Slovakia, Slovenia, USA, Hungary, France, Sweden, Georgia, Tajikistan, etc.).

Most dynamically and productively developing connections are with Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg (Germany), Alpen-Adria-Universität Klagenfurt (Austria), Michel de Montaigne Bordeaux 3 University (France), Miskolc University (Hungary), University of Manchester (UK), Technical University Hamburg-Harburg (Germany), National Technical University of Athens (Greece), Humboldt State University (Germany), Polytechnics of Krakow and Lodz (Poland).

An important stage in the life of the university was September 2005, when Rector (that time) of NTU “KhPI” professor L. Tovazhnyanskyy was signed the oldest institution of higher education in Europe University of Bologna (Italy) Great Charter of Universities (“Magna Charta Universitatum”). In March 2007, NTU “KhPI” was adopted by the European University Association as a full individual member. Since September 2007, NTU “KhPI” as a member of the Black Sea Universities Network, and from March 2009 – member of the Eurasian Association of Universities. Those events were important steps for integration of the university in unified European and world educational space.

The evidence of international recognition of NTU “KhPI” is the number of grants received by the University from international funds and programs. The main aim is integration into the world economic system, involvement foreign investment in education of Ukraine.

At present, the university implemented 49 international projects worth a total funding of about 3.5 million. Euro. (37 educational and 12 scientific projects).

To assist in the preparation of educational and scientific projects and to find partners at the University with the initiative of Technical University of Hamburg-Harburg Coordination Center was created consortium “EU – Ukraine” (TEMPUS project “Development Consortium of technical universities” EU – Ukraine “and permanent focal point consortium”). After completion of the project, thanks to the success of the Coordinating Center Consortium was officially recognized by the university administration and became a structural subdivision of International Relations Department of NTU “KhPI”. In 2008 the Center has been renamed in fundraising group. The most important function is to coordinate groups, planning and implementation of joint national and international projects. Employees of university create information and consulting support field for the dissemination of information about opportunities to participate in international educational and training programs. Since 2003, the University actively develops German Technical Faculty, which was founded in NTU “KhPI” with the support of Otto von Guericke University Magdeburg (Germany). Some Ukrainian students had lectures from professors from Magdeburg and other universities in Germany and Austria. Best students have the opportunity to take summer practice in Germany, and during the school year – pass included training in higher education institutions in Germany. Thus, included training in Germany in 2015/2016 academic year there were 26 students from NTU “KhPI”.

NTU “KhPI” actively supports and develops numerous exchange programs for students, graduate students, faculty members and researchers – the program of academic mobility of students, academic and administrative staff Erasmus + KA1, programs, double degree, international academic exchange programs, grants and scholarships, training in contracted in universities – partner NTU “KhPI”, international projects, summer schools and language courses, international events (conferences, forums, workshops, etc.). In 2016 on included studies at foreign higher education institution will leave more than 100 students of NTU “KhPI”.

In the area of international activities the Faculty of International Education, Ukrainian-French Center and the Ukrainian-American Business Center, coordinating cooperation with France and the United States, the Regional Training Center and the Center for Energy -saving integrated technologies, Center “Prospect” are working at NTU “KhPI”.

More than 30 international scientific conferences, number of major international forums, presentations and exhibitions are held every year at the university. University also takes part in international exhibitions abroad.

During each year abroad for advanced study and training, participation in conferences, symposia, etc., to training and language courses more than 300 researchers, teachers, students and graduate students of the University are going. Last year the university accepted more than 100 foreign experts, students and graduate students.

Since 1980, the university has the Department of international relations. The main directions of activity of the department:

– Coordination of international activities of departments and other units of the university;

– Development and realization of international projects;

– Working under contracts with universities abroad;

– Promoting international exchange programs of teachers, graduate students

– Information and consulting services;

– Exchange of delegations;

– Providing customs services;

– Registration documents  for going abroad;

– Organization of language courses and summer schools;

– Organization students’ practice abroad (France, Hungary, Bulgaria, Romania, Poland, Germany);

– Perform other tasks associated with international activity.

For active international cooperation NTU “KhPI” repeatedly recognized as one of the best universities both in the region, and in Ukraine as a whole.
